A poem for my Uncle Ron x

Created by jenny 3 years ago

My dear beloved Uncle Ron,

or chopper as he was known to some.

Husband, father figure, step dad, granddad, brother, uncle, friend, just some of the roles that you played in all our lives,

there is such an emptiness now you have left our sides.

Family camping trips to the New Forest, fireworks parties and bbqs,

are many of my childhood memories that I will cling on to.

My favourite time of year was always christmas day,

we would come over to yours for lunch and bring our new toys and play.

Gary and Kevin would always turn up late for lunch looking worse for wear,

their christmas eve night out was never a quiet affair!

You had loads of different hobbies that ensured you lived life to the full,

Sky diving, Scuba diving, Motor cross and Skiing to name but a few.

Basket weaving was certainly something you were never going to get accustomed to!

Your second home in Cyprus was where you loved travelling to,

the sun, the sea and Keo beer....you loved to have a few.

Searays was your favourite place, and its where you shared your wedding meal with Ann.

Taking my own children there one day is something i will plan.

Now the time has come to say goodbye, until we meet again.

You have been taken from us far too soon, but at least no longer in any pain.

For now i will think of you on your motor bike riding off towards the sun,

forever in our hearts and memories, my dear beloved Uncle Ron x
